About the transition

Greenville Technical College will transition from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 between the 2026 Spring and Summer semesters. This change is part of our ongoing effort to create a secure, unified, and efficient technology environment for students and employees.

Moving to a single, college-wide platform will streamline communication, strengthen security, and better align the tools we use every day.

We understand that changes to daily technology tools can be significant. Our goal is to provide clear communication, practical guidance, and ongoing support to students, faculty, and staff throughout the transition.

What's changing

• Student email will remain @my.gvltec.edu, but it will be in the Microsoft 365 platform.
• Employees will use @gvltec.edu as their primary email address. Employees will no longer have access to @my.gvltec.edu Google accounts after the cutover date.
• Microsoft Teams will replace Zoom as the college’s standard platform for online meetings and classes.
• Google Workspace access will end at cutover. After the official transition date, Gmail, Google Drive, Google Docs, YouTube, and other Google services associated with the college will no longer be available.

What you should know

•    The transition will occur between the Spring and Summer semesters to minimize disruption.
•    Students and employees need to save or transfer any important files and emails from Google Workspace before the cutover date.
