Self Service 'PasswordlessPhoneSignIn' error

Why am I getting this error?

This error occurs when you try signing into Self Service using your phone's login method (e.g. thumbprint, FaceID, etc) instead of your GTC password.
Self Service contains your personal and financial information, so we require a more secure, password-base login to keep your data safe.
