What is it?

Multifactor Authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security to protect your account.

00:00: Welcome to our training on Setting up the Microsoft MFA app.

00:04: On a computer or tablet, open Chrome and go to: myaccount.microsoft.com.

00:10: Click the "Email or phone" field and enter your Greenville Tech email address and

00:12: password.

00:16: On the "Let's keep your account secure" screen click next.

00:19: Download the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device, then click 'Next' to

00:22: proceed.

00:26: To set up your account hit next.

00:28: In the Authenticator app on your phone, if there is an option to 'Scan QR code' on

00:31: the first

00:34: screen, select it. ........Otherwise, tap the '+' icon in the top right corner

00:36: ........ select 'Work or School account,'

00:39: ........ and choose 'Scan a QR code.' Then, return to your computer and click 'Next'

00:42: to continue.

00:46: Tip! If scanning the QR code results in an error or a message like “This

00:50: code has already been used,” simply tap "Next" to continue to the next step.

00:55: You will get a two digit code on your computer, enter the code on your phone and hit

00:57: "next".

01:01: Tip.

01:01: If you do not receive the popup on your phone to enter the two digit code shown on

01:05: your computer, be sure that notifications for the authenticator app are enabled.

01:10: Enter your phone number for two-factor authentication using only the area code and

01:14: 7-digit number. Then hit "Next" to have the call sent to your phone.

01:20: Tip! If you have an iPhone and are not receiving the call, be sure that you have

01:23: 'Silence Unknown Callers' turned off.

01:26: To turn off 'Silence Unknown Callers', go to Settings ........ then to Phone

01:29: ........ and turn the setting off.

01:33: Microsoft will call your phone.

01:35: You will be prompted to press the pound key to verify.

01:39: After registering your phone, click Next.

01:42: Congratulations! You are now MFA authenticated. Click Done to finish.
